Between scenic drives, cruises and cocktail parties, attendees had the opportunity to talk with the Nicole Longhini, Fiat 500L Product Marketing Manager and Fabrizio Vacca, Senior Interior Designer of the 500L. Vacca, who flew in from Torino, Italy just for the show, gave a presentation on the new Fiat 500L with an overview of the history of Fiat family car design and where the 500L fits in.

First row at 2013 Fiat FreakOut

Fiat FreakOut was started in 1983 - the same year Fiat stopped selling new cars in the US - by  Bobb Rayner and a handful of Fiat enthusiasts. They formed a club called the Fiat Lancia Underground that later became Fiat Lancia Unlimited. Over the past thirty years, this Fiat club has evolved into the largest in North America with the Fiat FreakOut the largest gathering of Fiat enthusiasts in the nation. For carrying the Fiat banner and supporting the brand while Fiat was absent from the US market for 28 years, the Fiat Lancia Unlimited club was rewarded by Fiat in 2010 by being offered the first batch of Fiat 500s off of the production line.

This year marked a name change for the club, which is now called Fiat Club America. Whatever the club is called, though, it is still built upon being a friendly and welcoming community of Fiat Group car enthusiasts, just as it was in the beginning.

Next year's Fiat FreakOut is being held in Chicago. Become a part of it and join the Fiat Club America!

Fiat 500 Abarth Body Paint Ad

Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio Body Paint Ad

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. That Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio is made of a dozen or so people! Fiat commissioned this striking ad called "Body Paint" to run in ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue, which celebrates the beauty of the human form. Noted body painter Craig Tracy and a team of 30-40 people created this stunning example of Body Art which features a canvas made up of female artists, performers and models.

Jason Stoicevich, Head of Fiat Brand North America issued a statement saying:

"We wanted to create a concept for ESPN The Magazine's Body Issue that was as visually unique as the Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio. The notion of the 'Body Paint' print ad conveying athletic grace in a magazine that specifically devotes itself to covering athletes around the world sparked a perfect union for the FIAT Brand."

Fiat 500 - Born on the Fourth of July!

2007 Fiat 500 Unveil

The Nuova Fiat 500 was launched in 1957 and brought affordable transportation to a nation that was still struggling to recover from the devastation of war. More than just transportation though, the happy and cheerful Fiat 500 had a bright personality that conveyed a joy of living that is typically an Italian way of looking at life. Fifty years later, this personality was captured with the new Fiat 500 we enjoy today. Take a look back at the spectacular launch of this modern icon with these videos from July 4, 2007.

Fiat 500 Sales For June 2013

Fiat USA has posted sales for June, and they show an overall gain of 1 percent compared to the same month a year ago. Fiat sold a total of 4,050 cars last month - 3,509 Fiat 500 hatchbacks, Cabrios and Abarths and 541 Fiat 500L 5 doors. Sales of the Fiat 500L are going very well, the 541 figure is particularly impressive because the 500L has only been available since the middle of June, with some Fiat Studios waiting even longer to receive their allotment. Most of the first shipment have been Fiat 500L Easy and Lounge models, expect to see the full range of models, from the 500L Pop to the highly anticipated 500L Trekking coming in the next wave of cars arriving from Europe.

June was a busy month for Fiat. Besides the debut of the Fiat 500L, June saw Fiat continue its relentless social media campaign with its "Score a Scorpion" contest, launching the EnvironmentallySexy.com website and utilizing its very active Facebook page. The Fiat 500 also added two more awards to its trophy case: the 2013 Fiat 500 picked as one of Kelly Blue Books "10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000" and the Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio named "Best Convertible" by Southern Automotive Media Association. Finally, the month saw the launch of the Fiat 500L media campaign, featuring a new Fiat commercial called "Italian Invasion" that has a Paul Revre like character riding through a colonial town announcing the 'Italians are coming!"

July is also looking very promising for Fiat with another full shipment of Fiat 500Ls arriving at the port, the all electric Fiat 500e beginning to show up at Californian Fiat Studios and the largest Fiat owners convention (Fiat FreakOut) about to kick off in two weeks (July 18). We'll be keeping an eye on this all, so stick around!
