For the Fiat 500e press conference being held today at the LA Auto, three one-off show cars were sent from Italy to commemorate the occasion. The vehicles are from the renowned Italian brands Giorgio Armani, Kartell, and Bvlgari. The brands are considered the symbols of Italian excellence and design worldwide. Their collaboration with the 500 is meant to celebrate the arrival of the all-electric 500 and the change it ushers in.
The making of the three show cars are documented here in this video.
The three brands partnered with are considered the top iconic brands in their field and correspond to the three leading facets of the 500-style, creativity, and craftsmanship. Gorgio Armani was selected for fashion design, Bulgari for craftsmanship, and Kartel for eco-sustainable design.
Each brand created its unique interpretation of the 500 using natural, recycled, and regenerated materials.
The show cars were originally prepared to be shown at the launch of the new Fiat 500e at the 2020 Geneva Motorshow. However, the show was canceled, and the launch moved to Milan and became a televised event.
Eventually, the cars will be auctioned off to support important non-profit organizations for environmental protection.
Here's a look at each one:
Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani
The Giorgio Armani version of the electric 500 captures the Italian elegance of the the brand.
The 500e Armani uses laser technology to etch the car's metal work with exclusive microchevron engraving, giving it the three-dimensional look of an Armani suit fabric. In addition, the car is painted in Armani gray-green "silk effect" paint color. The "GA" logo on the wheels and soft fabric top, and amber-colored glass are the notable exterior changes.
The interior features Poltrona Frau sourced full-grain natural leather in a "greyge" color with microchevron wool bands. In addition, the 500's sculptural dashboard insert is covered with reconstituted open-pore wood layered with thin strips of aluminum inlay, said to be inspired by the Armani/Casa line.
Fiat Bulgari B.500 "MAI TROPPO"
The Bvlgari brand is world-renowned for jewelry design and craftsmanship. Their interpretation of the 500 is called B.500 "MAI TROPPO" (never too much). The exterior sheet metal is covered in saffron-colored pearlescent paint made with gold powder salvaged from the jewelry production scraps. Unique moldings, special wheels with the Bvlgari star logo, and black lacquer with gold trim are also featured. Fittingly, the car has a jeweled badge in polished gold, with a diamond-paved B.500 logo on the side.
The interior of the B.500 has a dashboard fascia upholstered with heritage Bvlgari silk scarves. The seats are in teal leather with "Diva" pattern embroidery, gold details, and scarf inserts. In addition, three semi-precious stones, amethyst, topaz, and citrine, are placed in a removable brooch in the center of the steering wheel.
Fiat 500e Kartell
The Kartell brand is renowned for Italian industrial design and eco-sustainability. The 500 Kartell's exterior features different types of materials – metal, glass, rubber, sustainable plastic, and fabric in the same color: Kartell blue, derived from Yves Klein blue, the color iconic of the brand. Furthermore, the bodywork surfaces' mirror effects are obtained with environmentally friendly chrome paint. In addition, the brands' logos are made out of sandblasted polycarbonate.
The plastics used are recycled from end-of-life parabolic projectors and are used in the 500 Kartel's front grille, wheels, and mirror caps. These parts were made in the pattern and texture of Kartell's Kabuki lamp, created and developed by the designer Ferruccio Laviani and used as a motif for the car's identity.
The Kabuki theme carries over to the interior, with the pattern on the dashboard insert and applied to the seats.
Special attention was paid to the brightness of the interior. The tactile textile plastics used in the interior are 100% recycled polypropylene, and the soft-feel fabrics are made from fully recycled polyester.

The new Fiat 500e was introduced in Europe in 2020 and has become one of the top-selling EV models. The 500e is the number one selling EV in Germany and Italy and in the top three in Spain and France. The Fiat 500e is third in overall EV sales in Europe in the first part of this year. Over 100,000 units have been sold in the past two years.
Sustainable Design, Sustainable Fashion, and Sustainable Luxury
The new 500e differs entirely from the 500 sold in the US between 2011 and 2019. Designed from the start as an EV, the new 500e is slightly larger than the old model and has a more upscale look and feel. Owners of the previous generation car will especially like the upgraded interior and infotainment/connectivity systems, which are considered among the best of its competitors.
The motor used in the 500e is rated at 118 HP and is powered by a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery housed in the floor. Acceleration from 0-100km/h is listed as 9 seconds. The average range is 320 km (199 miles) as measured in the WLTP cycle. The 500e's Combo 2 type charging socket is under a filler flap on the right side. It can be charged by alternating current up to 11 kW and continuous up to 85 kW. The battery is charged to 80% in 35 minutes at the 85kW rate, and Fiat states 5 minutes are enough to give the car an additional 50 km of range when needed.
In the short time the 500e has been on the market, it has won more than 30 international awards in nine countries. In August, for the second year in a row, the 500e won the "Best Small Electric" award by the prestigious What Car? magazine in the UK.
The new 500e is sold in 38 countries in four different geographical locations: Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and Japan.
