Sales totals are in, and Fiat had its best sales month since May, selling a total of 2,913 cars in September. Despite that, Fiat sales were down 30% compared to same month last year, but it should also be noted that September 2015 was a particularly strong sales month for Fiat.
The 500 hatchback and Cabrio models sales amounted to 1,481 last month, up 19% over the previous month. The Fiat 124 Spider also did well last month, recording its best sales ever since its introduction in June. Sales of Fiat's other models, however, weren't as lucky and 500L and 500X sales were at their lowest levels so far this year.
The increase in sales of the 500 hatch and Cabrio models may be attributed to end of model year sales incentives, plus the early arrival of 2017 cars which have a dramatically lower price point. Fiat has lowered the pricing on its 2017 range and so far only the 2017 500 hatch and Cabrio models have made it to dealership lots. Once 2017 500L and 500X models arrive later this year, it will be interesting to see how their lower pricing and increased equipment levels will impact sales.
