Fiat sales for June 2017 are in and show a 4 percent drop compared to the same month a year ago. Fiat sold a total of 2,242 cars last month compared to 2,329 in June 2016. Overall Fiat brand year to date sales are running 11 percent behind that of last year. Small car sales in this country have taken a big hit this year, with cheap gas and the shift in consumer preferences to larger crossover and SUV models being major contributing factors.
Sales of the Fiat 500 hatch and Cabrio models amounted to 995 units in June. So far this year, Fiat has sold a total of 7,456 Fiat 500s, or about 4 percent less than last year at this time. This is a better performance than most of its competitors who are down by double-digit percentages.* It is a tribute to the 500's timeless and attractive design.
Fiat 500L MPV recorded its best sales month since last July. With luck, the 500L may begin reversing its sales slide which has been running 68 percent below last year. Fiat 500X crossover sales didn't fare as well, being down 41 percent for the month and 40 percent for the year to date.
Fiat sold a total of 510 124 Spiders in June, its second best month ever. Fiat has sold a total of 4,974 124 Spiders over the past 12 months. The Spider particularly appeals to those who don't want the 'same old same old' and to people who appreciate sophisticated European styling and flavor.
