A sneak peek at the future Fiat 500X crossover was given during a media presentation of the new Fiat 500L. The Fiat 500X crossover is larger than the Fiat 500 and uses the chassis of the 5 door Fiat 500L MPV that will be debuting later this year.
The Fiat 500X shown is sleeker and decidedly more sporty than the practical Fiat 500L, the 500L design emphasis being more on maximum family room and versatility.
The Fiat 500X will replace the Fiat Sedici crossover that Fiat sells in Europe. The Fiat Sedici is a joint venture with Suzuki and will be recognized in the US as the Suzuki SX4.
Fiat 500X will be built at Fiat's Melfi factory in central Italy, along with a new Jeep model, code-named B-SUV. The new Jeep will be smaller than the Jeep Compass and Patriot, and will be sold in the United States, Europe and other markets.
Production of the Fiat 500X is rumored to begin at the end of 2014 and expect to see the US version sometime in 2015.
