July 4 not only marks Independence Day for the United States but also is the birthday of the Fiat 500. The Nuova Fiat 500 was introduced 68 years ago on July 4, 1957. To commemorate the occasion, Fiat has unveiled images and announced additional details about the new hybrid 500 model, which is scheduled to hit the road by the end of the year.

Production of the new Fiat 500 Hybrid is set to commence this November at Fiat's Mirafiori Carrozzerie plant, with a goal of having 5,000 units ready for delivery by year-end. The Mirafiori plant is currently assembling pre-production vehicles.
Once fully operational, the historic Turin facility is expected to produce approximately 100,000 units annually.
The Fiat 500 is known for blending classic design and modern features, and the new 500 Hybrid will be available in three styles: Hatchback, 3+1, and Cabrio. It will be powered by the FireFly 1.0L mild-hybrid engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Olivier Francois, CEO of Fiat, announced that the Fiat 500 Hybrid price will start at €17,000 ($20,000).
