New Fiat - Chrysler Mobile App coming soon

Earlier today, Chrysler announced it will make an enhanced owners information application available for folks who own a smartphone. Besides an owner's manual, other features will be included such as product literature, detailed feature descriptions, photos, videos, frequently asked questions, and the ability to set up service appointments and purchase parts.

It is ingenious and gives owners the ability to quickly access information about their vehicles at all times. For potential owners, it provides all the product information one could ask for.

The first application of this will be for the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, starting on June 19th, with other models to follow, including the Fiat 500.

Below are the highlights of the web conference held today by Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand.

Speaking: Pietro Gorlier;

Last year, we were the first to replace traditional owner manuals with DVDs and user guides - - - saving 930 tons of paper or 20,000 trees on an annual basis...

This morning, I’m pleased to announce that we are taking owner information and customer care to a new level. We will be the first in the industry to introduce free, downloadable vehicle owner-information apps for smartphones. Our first owner-information app will be available in the next couple of days for our all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Following Jeep Grand Cherokee, owner-information apps will be made available on future Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Ram Truck vehicles in the U.S...

The app will first be available on Apple iPhones, and then on Blackberry and Android devices. Major mobile carriers include AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint...

In addition to providing general vehicle information, we are creating a new on-demand channel of communication with our customers to communicate about our brands, vehicles, and customer service...

It’s also a channel where potential customers may download our apps to learn about our brands, our vehicles and all of their features and benefits...

Creating this new channel of communication will enhance the customer experience. It’s a great example of how we can add value to our vehicles and build brand identity...

The app combines owner manual information with product literature and
includes detailed feature descriptions, photos and videos ...

There are a variety of categories including information on the vehicle operation,
instrument panel information, vehicle maintenance, service contracts,
customer assistance, vehicle highlights, frequently asked questions, Mopar
parts and accessories and more...

Will the app be free to users? Can anyone download it, or only new customers?

Yes. It is FREE... This app is available to everyone - - - you do not need to be a current Chrysler vehicle owner to download and use this application. In fact, we view this app as an opportunity to communicate with potential customers about our brands and our vehicles.

When will this go live?

The Apple iPhone/iPod touch version will be available on June 19 to support the launch of our all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee...

Blackberry and Android versions will follow. We will then make owner-information apps available on future Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Ram Truck vehicles...

We want to take customer care to the next level ... and make the customer experience easier, and we wanted to promote the features of our new vehicles...

[Comment From Chris@Fiat500USA Chris@Fiat500USA : ]
Besides i-Phones, will this be available on an internet site and if yes will it be a new site or an existing one?

Right now, our primary focus is on the smart phone market, and capitalizing on the growth of that industry.

[Comment From David Hakim David Hakim : ]
What will be the next vehicle in the Chrysler line up to have this feature?

Going forward, apps will be available across all of our brands on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, starting with the launch of the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

[Comment From Mauricio Mauricio : ]
Could the costumer order parts or accessories with these apps?

Yes, absolutely.

The customer can connect to our Mopar e-store, order parts, and have them delivered it to their home through our dealer network.

Can't wait for the 500 app to drop down for the Verizon based Blackberries.
