September sales are in and the Fiat 500 racks up another record month. Fiat sold 4,176 cars in the US last month, an all time high since returning to the US market in March of last year. This marks 8 out of 9 months of continual growth this year, with 8 of these months setting a record over the last one.
Fiat 500 sales so far this year in the US are at 32,742, up 136 percent over last year to date totals of 13,861 units.
Fiat marketing continues its push to keep the 500 in front of the public's eyes with car giveaways, contests and publicity. Fiat kicked off September with the Fiat 500 Abarth winning its class at the Targa Newfoundland Rally. Later in the month, Fiat scored big by teaming with McDonald's to give away over 30 Fiat 500s in the MONOPOLY game at McDonald's. With an estimation of 27 million people visiting McDonald's everyday in the US, exposure doesn't get any better than that.
October promises to be an exciting month as the new 2013 Fiat 500T should be rolling into Fiat Studios and don't be surprised to hear more information on the upcoming Fiat 500 EV, the full electric version of the Fiat 500 that is slated for its debut during the Los Angeles Auto show in November.

I'd be curious to learn how current sales compare to the era 1979-1981 when FIAT had some it's highest sales of 124 Spiders, X1/9s and Bravas.

Fiat sales hit about 100,000 cars in or around 1976. Then dropped off dramatically every year until the end in 1984 or so. At the time, Fiat was the third largest car manufacturer in the world, yet only sold a handful of cars here in the US.
