Fiat 500 in Funk White

One of the popular paint colors for the Fiat 500 is Funk White. It is a brilliant pearlescent paint that is usually reserved for high end cars due to its extremely labor intensive paint process. The paint is applied in three coats, with two base coats applied in two different directions (which gives the paint its glittering, pearlescent effect) and then a high gloss clear coat. Normal metallic paint is just 2 coats, a base color coat and then a clear coat.

Because of this process, only a limited number of Funk White Fiat 500s are able to be produced daily at the factory. This figure was 3 per day when last reported. Here are a couple of studio shots of a Funk White Fiat 500.

Does Fiat create touch up paint kits for pearlescent 500 colors?

If you get into an accident, even a small one, the body shop will have tons of trouble matching this paint. I would avoid it.

Yes they do, however touching up a pearlescent color is difficult.

It is the one downside of paint like this.

Hi Luis,

Yes, it is very difficult, many times you have to paint large sections/the whole car to get it to match. At least this was the way it was when I sold Pearlescent Audi 100s 20 years ago;)

Hopefully modern paint and techniques are better at matching. Thank god for insurance,LOL!

Best regards, Chris
